Stick Figure throughout the history
This may surprise you a bit but stick figures exist since the first man started to paint. Stick is mainly made of lines and dots and can represent human as well as animals. These drawings can be found all over the world in caves representing scenes from everyday life of that time. There are also known languages which included stick figures as linguistic symbols.
Stick figure usually doesn't have any facial features such as eyes or nose, even hair. But that is not always the case. If needed to convey an emotion the artists are known to draw for example the eyebrows showing anger or round mouth representing a kiss. This proved to be most helpfull in advertising and entertainment industry. Today Stick figure is also the most important piece in creating the special effects in movies.
Today the stick figure is inseparable part of our lives as it always was. So, if you are looking for a toilet or an exit for example, you have big chances to find one of the sticks pointing you in the right direction. :)
